Gandhiji's first Chhattisgarh visit 

Gandhiji was invited to lead the movement by Satyagrahis who were protesting the canal in Kandel village. This time Gandhiji was on a tour of Bengal. Pandit Sundarlal Sharma went to Calcutta to invite them. Gandhiji had given full knowledge of satyagraha and the situation. Gandhiji had accepted the invitation.

Gandhiji's visit to Raipur 

* Gandhi ji with Pandit Sharma had landed on Raipur railway station on 20 December.

* Maulana Shaukat Ali, who led the national leader and the Khilafat movement along with him, also came to Raipur.
As soon as Raipur reached Raipur, the excited people gave good news to the success of the Kandal Satyagraha.

* The whole Raipur district was full enthusiast at that time.
Gandhiji addressed enthusiastic people in Gandhi Chowk, Gandhiji highlighted the programs and importance of non-cooperation movement.

Astrological journey {21nd December, 1920}
On the second day, on December 21, at 11 am, Gandhiji had reached Dhamtari along with Maulana Shaukat Ali. Gandhiji was welcomed by the enthusiastic people in the corn-bandch chowk of the city. The meeting place 'Jani Hussain's Fence' was decided. On reaching there, crowds of people gathered to meet and meet nearby people when they landed on the open car. In such a situation, Umar Seth, a Kachchh merchant of Gurur, placed Gandhi on his shoulders and delivered him to the stage.

Non-cooperation movement and its influence in Chhattisgarh
* The Congress's regular session was held on December 26, 1920 in Nagpur. In this Gandhi Gandhi's non-cooperation resolution was re-considered.

* Presided by Vijayaraghavacharya. Here Lala Lajpatrai and Chitrangadas withdrew their opposition and finally the Congress accepted the proposal of Gandhiji.

* The outline of the movement was similar to the proposal presented by Gandhiji in the special session of the December in Calcutta.

* In the proposal, there were major programs like discarding governmental titles, not paying taxes to the government, the exclusion of English education, boycott of foreign goods, boycott of judicial judges, prohibition of morals, boycott of council, constitution of Panchayat courts, establishment of national schools.

* Among those who attended this convention in Chhattisgarh, Pandit Sundarlal Sharma, Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla, Vamanrao Lakhye, Barrister CM Thakkar, Thakur Pyarelal Singh, Dharmari Narayanrao Meghawale, Natthuji Jagtap, Babu Chhoti Lal, Narayanrao Dikshit, Bilaspur from E Raghavendra, Thakur Chhedilal etc. was the chief.

* When all these leaders came back from the session on the occasion, they started the programs for non-cooperation and started the campaign very rapidly.
